The Beautiful Plains Community Medical Clinic is a recognized teaching site for the University of Manitoba Rady Faculty of Medicine.  Student doctors, at various stages of medical training, travel to Neepawa to gain practical experience and exposure to rural medicine.

Rural Week – Rural Week is a one-week learning experience for all first-year medical students enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. Rural Week provides an opportunity for the students to get first-hand experience and exposure to not just rural medicine, but also rural life.  It is an opportunity for participating communities to showcase themselves and promote the opportunities and benefits of rural and northern medicine.

Core Family Medicine Clerkship Rotation – All medical students are required to spend time focusing on major clinical disciplines, including Family Medicine.  The majority of students have the opportunity to spend their Family Medicine rotation in a rural or northern setting.  Neepawa has been a popular choice among third year medical students, thanks to motivated physician preceptors, a wide breadth of clinical experience, and welcoming community members.

Family Medicine Residents – Family Medicine residents are physicians who have completed medical school, and are preparing for a career in Primary Care.  Training takes place across the province, with programs based out of Winnipeg, Dauphin, Brandon, Morden/Winkler, and Steinbach.  Residents based out of Winnipeg and Brandon have the option to complete a mandatory rural rotation in Neepawa.  These physicians work alongside local family physicians, taking on higher levels of responsibility.
